MEETING MINUTES, September 9, 2007 at Inn Marin, Ignacio

Submitted by Charles Swensen

September is Publicity month

The first meeting in the third month of the reign of our president, John, was called to order by John Marshall.  Following the pledge (led by Larry Curtis) Larry Levy told of former member Doug Berlin’s upcoming memorial service and gave a quote from Confucius.

Announcements

Presentations

-President John Marshall is still looking for the last of the fundraising ballots (does he not have the answer he’s looking for yet?).  Then he reminded us that Rotaract is still working at San Jose Middle School and is looking for help for their next work party this Saturday.

- Shelley Klaner reminded the publicity committee of its upcoming meeting on 13 September at her office.

-Bill Kelly gave brief on last week’s golf & fireside.  It happened.  On 28 September we have a TGIF at Kirk Hylan’s.  Festivities run for from 5:45 pm until the cops break it up.

-Don Wichman held a raffle for a Giant’s baseball and parking package (you have to provide your own companionship for the parking portion).

-Jerry Ghirardo presented another Paul Harris Fellowships to Larry Levy.

- Kirk Hylan noted that there was no connection between his attendance and that of occasional attendee Dallas Hickle.  Fortunately no one asked for further explanation.

Munching of the Minnow: (Jack Marshall served as the enforcer)

-Anna Levinson got her induction right.

-Greg Hall did also.

- Garry Gast pulled it out while:

- Fran O’Brien seemed to think she came in in April.

- Anna Levinson was up again for her 35th wedding anniversary (she got that date correctly, but the name of her husband wrong).  Mostly the celebration involved champagne

- Jerry Ghirardo’s birthday came and went, leaving him 48.  Festivities have been postponed, awaiting his daughter’s recovery from an undisclosed illness.

- Fran O’Brien got her word correct.  Pillory has something to do with bondage.  Come on Minnow get out of her area of expert ice (the things spell check can come up with sometimes!).

Daryl held the chatter down to a dull roar.  It helps to have a nine foot bouncer at his side

Speaker/Program

Assistant City Manager, Mary Neilan provided our program.  Things in Novato are perfect and improving.  Numerous projects (some of which are controversial in the eyes of Jim Picchi) are underway.  There was some mention of monetary problems but those slides went by in a blur.

Upcoming Meetings

September 13     County Coroner

September 20     Publicity Assembly

September 27     Cliff Dochterman on membership

All Rotarians are encouraged to think about speakers for meetings. If you have a suggestion, please contact Catheryne DiPrete at "Catheryne DiPrete" <Catheryne.diprete@morganstanley.com>.
