MEETING MINUTES September 2, 2004 at Inn Marin, Ignacio Submitted by Famous Holt President Garry Gast opened with the pledge followed by Pastor Stan leading the invocation. Visiting Rotarians Bill Kelly introduced the visiting Rotarians; George Gasperoni, Jim Studley, Gale Ackerman, Don Beyer, Burt Hoffman and Dennis Hagerty. Guests President Garry brought as his guest Melissa Rinck from Corte Madera. Anna Levinson brought her son Nicholas. Announcements Visiting Rotarian Dennis Hagerty distributed information and spoke about the group study exchange to Mexico in 2005. Sponsored by the Rotary Foundation, the program is looking for professional, not immediate family to any Rotarian as team leaders. For more information contact Dennis, (415) 892-8818. Garry mentioned Labor Day at the Lake sign up was still out there. See Tony Elshout. Mike Fish announced Rotoplast September 19th. Contact Mike for more info. Bob Finer’s $100.00 donation to Rotoplast was acknowledged. Thanks Bob. Reminder about the challenge for a Paul Harris. Deadline is September 6. Bob Carpenter announced there are still berths available on the Wine Tour coming up October 9. Reminder, your reservation has to be paid to confirm your space. Greg Chidlaw gave some interesting info about Whistlestop Wheels. Greg currently sits on the Board of Directors for Whistlestop Wheels. Whistlestop Wheels distributes over 500 meals a day to individuals who otherwise might have to go into assistant livings housing. Whistlestop Wheels 50 anniversary party is coming up. It will be hosted by ABC new anchor, Cheryl Jennings. Cost, $50.00 per ticket. Sign up now and Greg will buy the ticket. George Dray gave a 5-minute talk about himself. Not only is George a native California (born in Modesto, raised in Merced and the Bay Area), he a pilot, restores vintage aircraft, and to top all of that went and got himself Kenworth diesel truck, 460 with 1600+ pounds of torque. Keep on truckin’ George. Shark Time Congratulations to Jerry & Laura Ghirardo. A healthy, bouncing baby boy. One hundred dollars for Rotoplast. Happy anniversary to Steve & Sandi Minutoli, 38 years. How about a dozen red roses, dinner and a trip to Hawaii? That’s what Steve is doing..$100.00. Anna & Bernie Levinson celebrated their 32nd . Happy anniversary. Dick O’Brien celebrated a birthday. Which one wasn’t disclosed. It was celebrated with family over breakfast and dinner. Fran O’Brien was fined for Dick’s birthday. Can’t figure that one out. Chuck Swensen gave a presentation by way of poetry on his trip to U.K., France, Switzerland and other places. I think I detected a melody in his delivery. Great job Chuck. Speaker Dave Pitchford introduced guest speaker Dennis E. Anderson. Dennis brought with him a slide show. It showed us the “Hidden Treasures of San Francisco Bay” which happens to be the name of his book he shared with us.
