MEETING MINUTES, 13 September, 2007 at Inn Marin, IgnacioSubmitted by Charles Swensen Notes by Shelley Klaner September is Publicity month The second meeting in the third month of the reign of our president, John, was called to order by John Marshall. Following the pledge (led by somebody not mentioned in the notes) Somebody may or may not have offered a thought for the day.
Announcements -Marge Pierce, of the Novato club passed away. - Peter Leabo’s father passed away -Matt Fuette has been ill, but is home now. Several members attended Doug Berlin’s funeral. Munching of the Minnow: He went hungry this week Craft Talks Catherine Di Prete spoke of her five years at Morgan Stanley and her background in corporate America at Hewlett-Packard. Working in the local sector made her appreciate working with “real money that matters to real people. She talked about the current economic market. Speaker/Program Coroner Ken Holmes shared the real-life scenario of a coroner as not like CSI. He explained that the position is an elected one and that most coroners are not medical doctors. Holmes came up through the funeral business, found that he was interested in forensics and took a job at the coroner’s office (business was slow?). When the coroner retired he ran for office (are there a lot of folks after that job?) and hasn’t looked back. He talked about why Marin has the highest suicide rate in the country. Turns out all those folks jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge make our figures surge, as well as the high rate within San Quentin. The fund raising assembly was put off to a later date. Upcoming Meetings September 20 Publicity Assembly September 27 Cliff Dochterman on membership 27 September Friendly Fire of Rotary, speakers John, Fran & Dick
