MEETING MINUTES October 20, 2005 at Inn Marin, Ignacio Submitted by Phil Snell The meeting was duly called to order by President Tony Elshout. Tony also led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Reverend Stan Warner provided the invocation and thought for the day. Visiting Rotarians Pauline Stuber introduced the following visiting Rotarians: from the Novato Club—Grant Gail, Phyllis Cope, Cindy Milano and Christopher Mychylik. Guests Roberta DiPrete introduced her husband, Freddie Kusin. Announcements Larry Curtis, chairperson of the Community Service Committee, announced that this coming Saturday, 10/22/05 at 9:00 a.m. we will be planting ground cover on the Ignacio Blvd. median strip. Please bring your “round tip” shovels and picks. The session will be followed by a chili cookout lunch in the adjacent parking lot. Susan Gilmore announced that our annual Holiday Party would be on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at the Marin Country Club. Visiting Rotarian, Grant Gail, reported that the Foundation Fundraiser would be a party celebrating the Rotary Foundation. An auction and raffle will accompany the Carnival theme festivities, with live music. All this to take place on November 5. Wendy Irving informed us that past Ignacio Rotary president and new member Rick Ronsheimer is in Novato Hospital. We all pray for Rick’s recovery. Gary Gast bragged about the University of Oregon Ducks’ victory last week. Fine Time Rob “The Griz” Sundberg exacted donations from induction celebrants Kirk Hyland (’96), John Marshall (‘96), and Rob himself (’03) “You reely missed it, you shoulda been in the Mentawi’s last month!” Dallas Hickle brought in pictures of the huge waves he caught while on surfari in the Indian Ocean near Sumatra. Dallas reported the faces at 20 feet, breaking in chest high water on coral reefs. The club would like a power point show, and hopefully Dallas will accommodate this. Jim Picchi contributed handsomely for his daughter who is attending the University of London. Speaker/Program Sympathies to all who failed to attend this meeting. Roberta DiPrete and John Tanko regaled us with their five-minute speeches. Each presentation was outstanding, and we are fortunate to have such interesting and devoted new members in them.
