MEETING MINUTES, 18 October, 2007 at Inn Marin, IgnacioSubmitted by Charles Swensen October is Vocational Service Month The third meeting in the fourth month of the reign of our president, John, started off with gathering up the gaggle for a photo op. After much yapping by the sheep dogs, the herd was assembled into some semblance of order and the photo taken (results yet to be determined). All headed back into the classroom when the end of recess sounded and the meeting was called to order at about 1232. Following the pledge led by ???, Larry Levy gave his thoughts for the day. Many words were compressed into a few ideas basically pontificating on what a great group we are.
Announcements
-Charles Swensen pleaded with the assembled for someone to take notes the next two weeks (the flood of pleading volunteers promised By -Rich Ronsheimer has largely failed to materialize but Melissa??? stepped forward to cover the first week. In the deafening silence that followed the offer of a golden opportunity for someone else to excel, she took on the second week also. -Michael Fish used up all of his allotted five minutes to tell us of a leadership conference with incoming zone (governor, leader, minister, fuehrer?). He beamed as he told of trampling two nuns to get to the empty seat beside the president of RI. He gave us some interesting statistics from a study on ethics (Curious to hear this from an attorney). -John Marshall called for adds in the Novato Advance and it was pointed out that 10% of the revenues come back to the club. The more adds that are purchased the larger the supplement can be. -Bill Doughty put in a pitch for the Rotaract Halloween party on 27 Oct (is that the date of Halloween this year?). -Bill Kelly passed around a sheet for signups to “She Loves Me” on 16 November. Tickets are $25. Wine & Hors d’oeuvres start at six. -John Marshall canvassed the attendees and it appears that Monte goes to Hawaii next year (can you believe Chicago came in behind El Paso?).
The Return of the Minnow:
-Paul Hutcheson’s wife had a birthday and set up dinner for her. -Bruce Moeller asked for an extension on his 50th birthday as it is tax season (I thought that was in April. Have I been filing early or late?) -Roland Fuette had his 47th anniversary. He went to Ireland where he claimed to have trouble finding pubs (was he blind drunk the entire time?). -Larry Levy did not go to Ireland despite his roots just east of there. -Rich Ronsheimer was hit two bucks for insulting the Minnow. With this new policy the club’s fundraising problems should be behind us. He took Kathy to “Nick’s Cove” for dinner. -Bill Kelly was fined $5 since his Ohio (Buckeyes?) are ahead of the Bears. -Peter Pelham has graduated from a banker’s school (Until today my money has been in the hands of someone not yet qualified!). This passed without a fine but Manchester losing to Russia could not be overlooked. -Dallas’ evil twin “Houston” Hickle was fined a buck a wave for his surfing trip to Indonesia. He claimed an injured rear end for which Fran demanded proof. -Fran O’Brian got help from George??? who was fined for his trouble. With a little help she properly (or close enough) defined “resile.”
Speaker/Program
Mark Peabody, head of the Marin School of the Arts gave a presentation on his program at Novato High. He was selected as Marin teacher of the year and is up for the same at state. He sees this program as a way to give his students a chance to identify talents in areas that are not longer funded by the state.
