MEETING
MINUTES May 24, 2007 at Inn Marin, Ignacio
Submitted by Luann Jackman President Larry Curtis opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. Marie Borders was asked to lead the Club in the pledge. Larry Levy did the invocation. Visiting Rotarians Ann Wade – Novato Interact members Announcements Pauline Stuber shared that the Wulbern scholarship committee met yesterday to chose the recipient(s). Pauline does a fabulous job with this. There are three winners ($10,000) and three alternates ($500). They are:
The work parties at Stafford Grove are going very well. Jim Picchi, Bill Doughty and Steve Minutoli have been there at all the work parties. Thank you. There will another work party the first weekend of June. June 3rd – family picnic at MiWok Park, let Roland know if you will be attending. $10 for food, byob. Recognition Greg Call shared about his spouse’s (Kelly) birthday. He let her come to work with her as she always does. They went to JM Rosen’s in Petaluma. John Marshall shared about his anniversary (17) – after taking Claire to her swim lessons at the YMCA, Dana and John played golf at the Meadow Club and had dinner. Daryl Weinroth’s lovely wife Patrice had a birthday and so he has no money left. He then shared TMI about what would happen if he did not give her presents. Dinner at Cyrus’ in Healdsburg. Had the waiter delivery her gift and she thought he had a gift for her not from Daryl. Word of the week: Opprobrium: something that brings disgrace. Presentations: Business Awards (Bob Finer was instrumental in this) § Ann Wade, small business – Ann’s Secret Hang Ups § Matt and Jeff’s Care Wash – medium size business § Cal Land – large business represented by Chuck Bennett Speaker/Program Dave Pitchford and Bob Carpenter are the chairs of the Youth Service Committee. Dave introduced the principal of Novato HS and others that participated in the trip to Mexico. A special recognition to the parent volunteers, two have children who have already graduated from the program and they continue to participate. Also special thanks to the Rotary member volunteers Roland Fuette, Larry Curtis, Steve Minutoli and Melissa Rinck. Dave shared more information about the trip and the sponsoring organization Amor Ministries. There were over 500 in total, 31 from Novato HS. We had a fabulous slide presentation. It was great to see the pictures. One of the young men and his mom shared their experience. It cost about $15,500 for 38 people to go on the trip. They also presented Vicki Pitchford with some flowers to thank her for letting Dave “go with them”. Drawing The drawing was won by Terry Malloy. ?¯?¯?¯?¯?¯?¯?¯?¯ Do the right thing
