MEETING MINUTES May 12, 2006 at Inn Marin, Ignacio Submitted by Chuck Swensen Meeting was called to order by President Tony Elshout, who asked Bob Finer to lead us in the Pledge however Dean got impatient and helped. Pastor Stan give the invocation and thought for the day. Visiting Rotarians From Novato, Dan Violian and Marty W. joined us today (I apologize for not having the spelling of our visiting Rotarian’s names). Guests Steve Minutoli’s son Steven and Michael Carbone our speaker also joined us. Announcements Luann Jackman asked everyone to nominate a small business of the year and educator of the year, either on the slips of paper on the tables or by email. We will be voting next week. Also, she will be sending out the results of the Monte Carlo survey prior to tonight’s fireside. Wendy Irving reminded us to mark our calendars for the Novato Relay for Life coming up on June 24 and 25. Larry Curtis took the opportunity to honor Roland Fuette for his work with Interact and on the trip to Mexico. Also mark your calendar for July 13, our first fireside of the new leadership. Pastor Stan reminded us all that Sunday will be Mother’s Day and thanked Bob Finer for finding him two cars. John Marshall shared that Denis Pepin was the winner of the “selling the most Monte Carlo tickets” contest. He received a nights stay in a jacuzzi room at Inn Marin plus a gift certificate for dinner at Rickey’s. Fred Pfeiffer asked for a show of hands regarding who will be attending the fireside tonight. Shelley Klaner asked for volunteers to work at the Novato Art and Wine Festival (June 10 – 11). The shifts are four hours. Also asked for volunteers to help with the float for the 4th of July parade. Jerry Ghirardo presented Paul Harris Fellowships to Bruce Moeller, Steven Minutoli and Brendon Petori, Dean Moser’s nephew. Fine Time Fortunately we ran out of time so “the Griz” could not fine himself for his IJ front-page publicity. Speaker/Program Michael Carbone shared information on settling disputes through mediation verses trials or arbitration. He shared that he is considered a “full time neutral”, which is what is needed in mediation. He provided handouts and answered many questions. Raffle Stan Dennison won the raffle however did not pick the correct marble out of the bag. It is getting close – there are very few marbles left.
