MEETING MINUTES June 14, 2007 at Inn Marin, Ignacio
Submitted by Luann Jackman President Larry Curtis opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. Fran O’Brien was asked to lead the Club in the pledge. Larry Levy did the invocation. Visiting Rotarians There was one from Novato. Guests Jane Hamilton, North Bay Children Center Announcements I apologize I lost a number of announcements. Daryl shared an update with us about Doug DiSalvo’s daughter Alana. She unfortunately broke her neck in a diving accident. She will be flown home this week. She is currently paralyzed however there is hope that this will not be permanent. Larry asked if there would be enough members who would like to tour San Quentin. It will be on a Friday in July. He will get us the information. John Marshall reminded about the fishing trip on July 8th. There will be a “meet the new president” social on that Sunday afternoon for 3 – 7 pm at the Pitchford’s home. June 23-24 will be the work party to install the playground equipment. Recognition Dave Pitchford induction was recognized. Larry Levy had an anniversary dinner at Spinnakers. Art Wasserman’s wife Jessica’s birthday was celebrated with dinner at Citrus and Spice in San Rafael. North Bay Business Journal had a photo of Peter Pelham with Rob Sundberg. Quiz next week about the website. Bob Carpenter shared about his trip back east. They had a wonderful time sailing, traveling, good food, baseball and a wedding. Fran word of the week: syllepsis – the use of a word in the same grammatical relation to two adjacent words in the context with one literal and the other metaphorical Presentations: Monte Carlo proceeds were given to: North Bay Children’s Center, Novato Youth Center, Marin YMCA and Miss Marin. Speaker/Program Mary Jane DeWolf-Smith, the spouse of past president of Ross Valley John Smith. She founded Family Works in 1978, formerly Apple Family Works. Mary Jane has also been the Lamaze coach for some of our members and their wives. She shared some great thoughts about the importance of fathers. Board Meetings Ignacio Rotary Board meetings are the 3nd Wednesday of the month. They meet at the Circle Bank on Grant Avenue in Novato. They begin at 4:30 pm.
