MEETING MINUTES, 17 January, 2008 at Inn Marin, Ignacio

Submitted by Charles Swensen

January is Rotary Awareness Month

The third meeting of the new year our president, John, called the meeting to order at about 12:30.  Following the pledge, Larry Levy gave his thoughts for the day, something about Daryl leading a dog’s life...

Announcements

-Bill Kelly gave details about the upcoming fireside.  Members only.  Bring a check for $15 and a bottle of wine.  -

-Marie Borders announced the details of the upcoming district conference.  It will be at South Lake Tahoe, 10-13 April.  Applications are available

-Matt Pavone canvassed the membership for interest in a mass invasion of Pac Bell (or whatever they are currently calling it) Park.  We seem to have sufficient interest to press forward.

-Suzanne Bales announced the Novato Club’s polenta feed on 2/2/08.  Fliers were on the tables to provide details.

-Mike Fish gave an update for Monte Carlo and pushed all to get going on auction items and tickets.  The easiest way is to hit those where you’ve been successful before.  Get those tickets sold (but have fun doing it)!  The web site is now up and operating.  Instructions were given.

Fines:

- Bob Kane celebrated his birthday with surgery.

- Dallas Hickle & Phil Snell were scrutinized concerning some surfing event called Maverick’s.  Dallas apparently failed to attend and suffered accordingly.

Speaker/Program

Colonel Robert Kane gave an informative talk on the early days of the Vietnam conflict including some entertaining and moving personal stories.

Upcoming Meetings

24 January - - Dark, Mini Firesides at Members Homes
