MEETING MINUTES, 10 January, 2008 at Inn Marin, Ignacio

Submitted by Charles Swensen

January is Rotary Awareness Month

On the second meeting of the new year our president, John, called the meeting to order at about 12:30.  Following the pledge, Larry Levy gave his thoughts for the day.

Announcements

-Roberta DiPrete submitted her resignation due to work conflicts.  All are requested to keep in touch with her.

-Fireside Hosts are footing the bill for our upcoming dinners.  Please bring a bottle of wine and the club expects $15 in lieu of the normal weekly fee.   Topics will include Fund Raising and Re-invigorating the club.

-President John Marshall pushed the Chamber event, “Paint the Town Red” at Fireman’s Fund, 26 January.

-Mike Fish gave an update for Monte Carlo and pushed all to get going on auction items and tickets.  The easiest way is to hit those where you’ve been successful before.

Fines:

- Melissa Rinck’s had a birthday.  He took her to Mendocino.

- Jim Lamont was hit for his December induction (2007, does that count?).

- Pauline Stuber got hit again for John’s birthday (she had already paid).  In a senior moment, she didn’t recall where they went out to dinner (did they remember to have dinner?).

- Daryl tried to push two tickets to the SF Symphony (should have stuck to the Marin one).

Speaker/Program

Sharon Maier, gave a presentation on her club’s aid to a rural school, including a water project in Zimbabwe.  It is a tragic story of a country that has gone from the bread basket of Africa to starvation.
