MEETING MINUTES, 14 February, 2008 at Inn Marin, Ignacio Submitted by Charles Swensen February is Rotary World Community Month The St. Valentine’s Day meeting was called by President John at about 12:30. Following the pledge Larry Levy gave the thought of the day, a reading from Corinthians.
- President John Marshall announced that at the Novato awards the city put out a proclamation that named Ignacio Rotary as the lead club in the renovation of Stafford Park. - Steve Minutoli reminded all that our annual blood drive will be 20 March, 2008 - Fred Pfeifer reminded us that the district conference is 9 April up at South Lake Tahoe. He called for a show of hands as to who’s planning to be there. - Dave Pitchford noted that those not going to the conference could join in on the Interact trip to Mexico, 6-12 April. He could use some adult supervision (nobody’s currently scheduled to keep an eye on him). - Daryl filled in for the Fish report on Monte Carlo and pushed all to get going on auction items and tickets. If you’re one who buys tickets rather than trying to sell them be sure to give them to someone. The event is a success if we get a lot of people there, not just the money for a bunch of tickets. Inductions: Don Cliver sponsored Philippe Hobson In lieu of Fines we heard poems from: Dave Pitchford Speaker/Program Mary
Jane Burke, Marin County Superintendent of
schools gave a talk on the status of the schools in Marin. She proudly
pointed out that Marin school are rated the highest in the state for test
scores and in producing students qualified for entry into the state’s
university systems. She also highlighted the challenges she faces in the
current budgetary climate. Upcoming Meetings: 21 February - Monte Carlo Assembly 6 March - Michael Marovich- The History of St Vincent’s School for
