MEETING MINUTES December 14, 2006 at Inn Marin, Ignacio

Submitted by Marie Borders

The meeting was called to order by the President Larry Curtis at 12:20 pm.

In lieu of the invocation, Larry asked for a moment of silence in honor of the late Pastor Stanford Warner.

Visiting Rotarians

Al Angulo, Don Beyer, and Forrest Craig, all from the Novato Club; Terry Molloy for the Terra Linda Club; and Jan Hutchinson from Novato Sunrise.

Guests

Nancy Griffin, spouse of John Griffin, who will be inducted today; and Bill and Cecilia Huber.

Special Recognition

The Club inducted John Griffin as its newest member, and he was warmly welcomed by all.

Announcements

Thanks all around to those who organized and put on the Club’s Holiday Party, including Roland Fuette, Dave Pitchford and Tony Elshout

Wendy Irving reminded the Club about the Holiday Food Boxing event to be held at the Marin Food Bank on Sunday, December 17th from 5-7, with a pizza party to follow at Red Boy.  She also reminded us that our meeting next Thursday will be held at the Novato Youth Center, and that we should try to arrive by 11:30 in order to welcome Santa, who this year will be Greg Molloy.  He volunteered to do this for us since our usual Santa, Stan Dennison, had an eye injury.  Get well soon, Stan!

Dave Pitchford needs volunteers for the distribution of dictionaries to the third graders at Novato Charter, Loma Verde and Hamilton Elementary Schools.

Peter Pelham reminded us to support the Novato Sunrise Club by purchasing our Christmas trees at the St. Vincent’s lot.

Rich Ronsheimer asked President Larry to announce Matt Pavone as President-Elect for the 2008-2009 term, which was previously announced at the Holiday Party.

Fine Time

The Bear fined himself for an unfortunate decision to allow an audience member at one of his shows to sit in with the band…

Peter Pelham and Chuck Swensen each recalled the exact date and year of their inductions.

Michael Fish, together with his wife Lisa, celebrated eight years of wedded bliss on November 29th.  Oh, and one more little thing:  there’s a new young man in their lives!!!  Dylan Michael Fish was born on December 4th – Lisa and Mike couldn’t be happier, and we couldn’t be happier FOR them.  Congratulations!!!

Speaker/Program

Paul Kingsman regaled us with his quest to become a two-time Olympian – the trials, tribulation, and triumphs.

“Big guy” Rich Ronsheimer pulled the wrong marble.

Happy Holidays to all!

Do the thing right

Thank you Marie for taking the notes for this bulletin.  J

Having FUN doing it!

Get ready for Monte Goes to Manhattan.  So to have a bit of fun – periodically there will be a Monte Carlo question of the week.  The answer will be in the following newsletter.  So your first bit of trivia is:   Twenty years ago when the club sponsored it's first Monte Carlo, what were the proceeds used for?

Member Spotlight –  In keeping with the holiday spirit – one of our members told me that his favorite movie is It’s a Wonderful Life.  Who do you think this is?
