Matt Pavone announced that the Monte Carlo Steering Committee met again on 8/1.  Sub-committee assignments are almost complete and will be announced shortly.  Sub-committee chairs may contact their sub-committee members to discuss their sub-committee’s activities.  Matt also announced that Steering Committee minutes are now available on the Club website.

Carol Dillon Knutsen (Novato Club and City Council member) announced movies and music in the Park (Pioneer Park) and Shakespeare at the Hamilton Amphitheatre, featuring “Taming of the Shrew” this weekend and next.

Stan Warner announced that he needs another car donation and advised that he has received six cars to date from our Club (including two from Gary Gast).

Roland Fuette announced that the calendar of Club events was available at the front desk.  Jack Marshall is sponsoring a salmon fishing trip on September 9, at a cost of $100 per person (including lunch).  Roland also announced the Cal Game event has been changed to the October 7 game against Garry Gast’s Oregon Ducks (to be televised at 5 PM on ABC).  There will be a District-wide event on the Hornblower Yacht on October 8, including a buffet lunch and a viewing of the Blue Angel’s show.

President Larry Curtis announced that August is membership month and asked each member to bring a guest to a Club lunch.

Wendy Irving announced the Club’s involvement again this year in the “Labor Day at the Lake” festivities on September 3.  The Club is again helping to staff the ticket booth for refreshments and is seeking volunteers to help.  There is an early shift and a late shift.

Mike Fish reminded the Club of the bocce ball event to help support the Rotoplast on August 27 in San Rafael.

Dean Heffelfinger (Novato Club and Assistant District Governor) announced the District barbecue on August 13 at Dunphy Park in Sausalito.  The cost is $20 per person (include everything).  People interested in attending should call ahead for reservations.

Shelley Klaner was recognized for her induction on August 1, 1992.  Her sponsor was Jeff Amen.

John Marshall was recognized for his birthday on August 1, which he celebrated with a round of golf with wife Dana, a family dinner, and a walk and bike ride to the park.

Paul Armstrong, one of our newest members, was fined $5 for a ringing cell phone.  Rich Ronsheimer, who was seated next to Paul, was fined $5 for failing to advise Paul about the Club’s “no cell phone” rule.

Stan Dennison was fined for his recent vacation with his daughter to the Virgin Islands and Miami where he enjoyed snorkeling, and other nature excursions.

Chuck Swensen confessed about his recent birthday trip with his son to London and Europe, and told a hilarious story about his encounters with anti-terrorism police in Paris involving his son’s missing laptop computer, as well as his visit to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Dallas Hickle confessed to his missed meetings and events and imposed a hefty fine on himself.

Speaker/Program

Assistant District Governor Dean Heffelfinger (Novato Club) introduced speaker Mark Flegel, our current District 5150 Governor.  Governor Flegel talked about his ideas of Rotary and why he is a Rotarian.  He emphasized all Rotary has done in the areas of providing access to clean water, literacy, health and the eradication of hunger for the world’s poor.  He also addressed the family of Rotary and what Rotary can do to better promote its accomplishments.

Do the right thing

Thank you Matt for doing the minutes – next is Rich Ronsheimer has volunteered.

Semi annual dues statements were mailed out two weeks ago, and if there are some folks who still haven't gotten theirs, $75 is now due and payable to Rotary Club of Ignacio no later than August 15th.  If you need a copy of the invoice, Marie Borders is happy to email it to you – all you have to do is email Marie Borders and let her know what you need.

Do the thing right

John Marshall was recognized by President Larry Curtis for his continuing generosity in providing coffee, juice, food, and other refreshments at our various Club events, as well as meeting space

Member Spotlight – I would love for everyone to send me your high school and college mascots – I should have added that to the original request, however I didn’t think about it until someone suggested it.  I thing it will be very important to know how many “Tigers” we have in our midst.  I included this request last week and only three people in our club have responded.
