ROTARY CLUB OF IGNACIO FOUNDATION

The Mission of the Foundation: to raise funds from events and accept receipt of charitable contributions from Rotary members as well as the general public for the purpose of the annual support of:

                       1)     local student scholarships,

                       2)     local charitable agencies serving those in need,

                       3)     other deserving civic or charitable projects within the community, and

                       4)     limited non-local Rotary projects.

 It is the specific intent that funds be accumulated to provide for continued support for such annual programs. In the discretion of the Board of the Foundation an annuity may be accumulated to fund these programs and/or funds may be accumulated to provide for a capital program in support of such programs.

MONTE CARLO NIGHT:  This is the primary annual fund raising event of the Foundation and supports all of its activities.

SPECIAL CONTRIBUTOR REQUESTS:  The Foundation also accepts the responsibility of administering contributions for which the benefactor has a specific request as to the disposition of the funds.  However, the benefactor’s wishes must coincide with the Mission of the Foundation.  An example of such a Special Contributor Request is the Wulbern Scholarship Fund described below.

Foundation Board of Directors The following members of the Rotary Club of Ignacio act as the current directors.  Pauline Stuber (President), Art Wasserman (Treasurer), Rich Ronsheimer (Secretary), Greg Call, Gary Gast, Fred Pfeifer, and Larry Curtis.   Each director serves for three years and may not be re-elected for two years after having completed a term as director.

WULBERN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 NOTICE OF OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

                                                                                               

Three $2,500 Outstanding Achievement Scholarships are being offered to the graduating senior students in Marin County high schools who will be attending University of California or California State University Schools.  The scholarships will be renewable to a maximum of four years and $10,000. The fund is specifically designed to provide aid to students who have demonstrated by their high school performance that they have the potential and the motivation to succeed in the university environment and who have demonstrated that they have a commitment to use their talents and education to help other individuals in the future. 

 

ELIGIBILITY:          All graduating senior students in Marin County High Schools who will be attending University of California and California State University Schools. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in high school and an SAT I score of at least 1200 for the total of the math and verbal sections (or ACT equivalent). No distinction will be made as to gender, race or creed.

 

APPLICATION:        A candidate must complete the 4-page application form, attach an official school transcript, SAT score, a copy of his/her birth certificate or proof of citizenship, and submit three letters of recommendation, one from each of the following:

 

                      School Administrator or Counselor
                      High School Teacher
                      Community Service or Employment Supervisor

 DEADLINE:            The completed form must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2008 and mailed to:

SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of the finalists will be based on the following criteria:

                      Academic achievement
                      Quality and completeness of application materials
                      Signed letters of recommendation
                      School and community service activities

Finalists will be interviewed by a Committee selected by the Rotary Club of Ignacio Foundation.  The Committee will select the scholarship recipients and the scholarships will be presented at the school’s annual senior awards program by a representative of the Rotary Club of Ignacio.
